The Bosdet Foundation is looking for two new Board members to join us in the New Year and help shape our growing charitable work here in Jersey.
The Bosdet Foundation is a genuinely unusual Jersey charity. Its income comes entirely from the profits of the resort it wholly owns - Les Ormes Resort. Every stay, meal, padel match, golf round, haircut or Jump Jersey session at Les Ormes helps fund support for Islanders in need. By 2030, the Foundation will be committing £1 million every year to its charitable work, following its total of £700K in 2027.
As that work grows, we're strengthening our Board - and we'd love to hear from Islanders who can help.
We're particularly keen to hear from people with a background in supporting children - through education, health, social services, the uniformed services, or previous experience in the charity sector. No prior Board experience is required.
We're just as interested in your real-life experience, enthusiasm and judgement, and we'd especially welcome applications that broaden the range of backgrounds and experience around our table.
The role
As a Board member, you'll help set the direction of the Foundation, working alongside fellow members and the leadership team to ensure the charity delivers real public benefit, stays financially sound and is run to the highest standards of governance. In practice, that means:
- Contributing to Board discussions with strategic guidance and constructive challenge
- Ensuring the Foundation pursues its charitable objectives and delivers public benefit
- Safeguarding the good name and values of the Foundation
- Supporting effective administration, financial management and controls
- Bringing your skills, knowledge and experience to key decisions
- Acting as an ambassador for the Foundation and helping raise its profile
- Attending Board meetings, sub-committees and the occasional Foundation event
- Complying with charity law, our governing document and relevant legislation
The commitment
- Time: around five main Board meetings a year, plus up to two Charity Sub-Group meetings, each up to two hours, with some email and correspondence in between.
- Remuneration: this is a voluntary, unpaid role. It does not carry Les Ormes staff benefits.
What you'll gain
- The chance to make a meaningful difference to the causes the Foundation supports
- An opportunity to develop your governance and leadership experience
- Connections with fellow trustees, sector leaders and supporters
- A full induction, training and ongoing support from the Chair and Board
About the Foundation
The Bosdet Foundation supports islanders in need across Jersey. It does not fund religious or animal causes. Full details, including our constitution, are at www.bosdet.je.
How to apply
There's no long form to fill in. Simply send a summary of your relevant experience to Mike Graham, Managing Director of Les Ormes at mike@lesormesjersey.co.uk, and we'll arrange an informal coffee and a chat about the role.
From there, shortlisted candidates will meet our Chair, Roger Trower, along with another Board member and Mike. Other Board members may then be in touch, before the Board meets in early December to confirm the two new appointments, who will begin in the new year.
